A dusty and grainy Serpent.

Here we see a lot of dark nebula action in Cepheus. Try to find the background galaxy. Bonus points if you find the planetary nebula.br/br/Technical details: Baader modded Canon XSi, Canon 200 mm f2.8L @ f2.8, 31x6min (dithered manually), 109 darks, 54 flats. The stack with darks looks much better than the stack without them.br/br/Processing: Stacking in DSS with temperature matched darks. Levels in Abobe PS CS5. Very gentle Digital development in ImagesPlusV4. Fine tuned levels and contrast in Photoshop.br/br/Other notes: The ClearSkyChart predicted windy and warm weather. I figured if it did end up being windy or hot, I could just turn this session into an exploratory session. Fortunately, Figueroa mountain was calm and relatively cool (17C).br/br/A bat harassed me for a good part of the night. In addition, I was a bit on the edge because I heard something growl, but it could have been my stomach :). I also saw my first Tarantula of the 2011 season.br/br/LOTS of meteors. A significant portion seemed to be coming from Aquila/Aquarius.br/br/EDIT: It turns out that the delta Aquarids meteor shower was at maximum during the shoot. Another portion probably came form the Capricornids.
