NGC 4038/4039 (Arp 244, The Antennae galaxies) are a textbook example of colliding galaxies. Of course there are many other galaxies in the background, the most prominent one being NGC 4027 in the lower right.
This one does not rise very high in the sky, so I hesitated shooting this. And while the star shapes did take a big hit (because of the low elevation or because of my processing?), the picture is not nearly as disastrous as I was prepared for. :)
