Widefield Sh2-71

Here we have a widefield view of planetary nebula Sh2-71 (center left) along with some dark nebulas which my charts only vaguely identify as LDN617. The dark nebula looks like an arm coming in from the right trying (but failing) to grab the nebula.

I used drizzling during image stacking, so the resolution is 2x the native resolution of my CCD. 32 dithered frames helped in minimizing the noise.

Date: July 4, 2014

Camera: SBIG STF-8300M
CCD Temperature: -5 C
Optics: Takahashi Sky 90 II @ 406 mm fl (f/4.5)
Filter: Astronomik L
Light frames: 32x5 min
Dark frames: 15
Flat frames: 25
Bias frames: 50
Binning: 1x1
Guiding: Orion SSAG @ Orion finder (~162 mm)
Mount: AP Mach 1

Processing: Stacking in DeepSkyStacker (2x2 Drizzled), Curves, Levels, and gentle noise removal actions in PSCS6.

Other notes:
A rather uneventful night. A couple of meteors, a couple of moths, and given that this was shot 'mid week' ensured I was all alone on the mountain.
